Falcon Bass Boats has a rich history in DeKalb, Illinois. The company was founded in 1973 by Eugene “Gene” Quade, with the goal of creating high-quality bass boats for the avid angler. Gene’s passion for fishing and his entrepreneurial spirit led him to start this venture, which would eventually become a household name among fishermen in DeKalb and beyond. The early years of Falcon Bass Boats were challenging as Gene worked tirelessly to design and build his first boat – the Falcon F16. With limited resources and a small team, he managed to create a boat that exceeded expectations in terms of craftsmanship and performance. This initial success laid the foundation for what would become one of the most well-respected brands in the boating industry. As word spread about the quality of Falcon boats, demand began to grow rapidly. The company quickly outgrew its original facility on South Second Street in DeKalb and moved into a larger production facility on Twombly Road. This expansion allowed them to increase their production capabilities while maintaining their commitment to hand-crafted boats made with attention to detail. In addition to producing top-of-the-line bass boats, Falcon also became known for its exceptional customer service. Gene personally interacted with customers at trade shows and tournaments across the country, building relationships with anglers who became lifelong supporters of the brand. One such supporter was professional fisherman Jim Bitter, who joined forces with Falcon Bass Boats in 1985 as an official spokesperson. Bitter’s endorsement helped raise awareness of Falcon among competitive anglers and solidified its reputation as a top choice for tournament fishing. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Falcon continued to innovate their designs based on feedback from both recreational fishermen and professional anglers like Bitter. They introduced new models such as the Striker series which featured sleeker designs specifically tailored for speed during tournaments. However, it was in the early 2000s when Falcon truly made a name for themselves in the industry. In 2002, they introduced the F-series boats which featured a unique hull design that allowed for increased speed and maneuverability on the water. This innovation caught the attention of many anglers and helped solidify Falcon’s position as one of the top bass boat manufacturers. In 2012, Gene Quade retired after nearly four decades at the helm of Falcon Bass Boats. His son Jeff took over as president and continued to lead with a focus on quality craftsmanship and customer satisfaction. Under his leadership, new models were introduced including the FX Series which offered enhanced features such as integrated rod storage systems and upgraded electronics. Today, Falcon Bass Boats remains based in DeKalb but has expanded its presence globally through partnerships with dealerships across North America and Europe. The company continues to be family-owned and operated, with Jeff Quade’s sons playing key roles in production and design. Falcon’s commitment to quality has not wavered over its four decades in business. Every boat is still hand-crafted by skilled artisans using only premium materials to ensure durability and performance on the water. In addition to their dedication to producing superior bass boats, Falcon also gives back to their community through various charitable initiatives such as hosting an annual charity fishing tournament benefiting local organizations. The legacy of Gene Quade lives on through his family’s ongoing involvement in running Falcon Bass Boats. His passion for fishing coupled with his entrepreneurial spirit have created a lasting impact not just within DeKalb but throughout the boating industry as well. As we look towards what lies ahead for this iconic brand, one thing is certain – Falcon will continue to push boundaries in terms of design and technology while maintaining its core values of excellence, integrity, and customer service. Whether you’re an avid fisherman or simply appreciate high-quality craftsmanship, there is no doubt that Falcon Bass Boats will continue to be a leader in the boating world for years to come.

DeKalb, Illinois is a small city located in the northern region of the state. With a population of approximately 44,000 people, it may not seem like much at first glance. However, this charming town has a rich history and vibrant community that make it stand out. Early History: The land where DeKalb now stands was originally inhabited by Native American tribes such as the Potawatomi and Ottawa. In 1833, two brothers from New York named Benjamin and George Fisk settled in the area and established a sawmill along the Kishwaukee River. This marked the beginning of European settlement in what would become DeKalb. Incorporation: As more settlers arrived to take advantage of fertile farmland and natural resources such as timber and water power, DeKalb began to grow rapidly. In 1856, it was officially incorporated as a village with about 500 residents. The Chicago & Northwestern Railway also reached DeKalb around this time which further fueled growth. Agriculture Boom: Throughout the late 19th century into early 20th century, agriculture played a significant role in shaping DeKalb's economy. Farmers grew crops such as corn, wheat, oats and hay on vast fields surrounding the city. It was also during this time that one of DeKalb's most famous industries emerged - barbed wire production. Barbed Wire Capital: Joseph Glidden invented barbed wire while living in nearby Sycamore but decided to move his business to DeKalb due to its proximity to rail lines for shipping purposes. By 1874, Glidden had established himself as one of America's leading barbed wire producers with factories scattered throughout town employing hundreds of workers. Northern Illinois University (NIU): In addition to being known for agricultural production and barbed wire manufacturing, DeKalb is perhaps most well-known for being home to Northern Illinois University. The university was founded in 1895 as the Northern Illinois State Normal School, with the purpose of training teachers for rural schools. Over time, it evolved into a full-fledged university and is now known for its strong academic programs and diverse student population. The presence of NIU has had a significant impact on DeKalb's economy, bringing in thousands of students each year who contribute to local businesses and cultural events. It also serves as an important source of employment for many residents. Community Life: DeKalb boasts a tight-knit community that takes pride in its rich history and traditions. Every year, the city hosts several festivals and events such as Corn Fest (celebrating DeKalb's agricultural roots), ARTigras (a celebration of art) and the Egyptian Theatre Film Festival (showcasing classic films). These events not only bring people together but also attract visitors from neighboring cities. In addition to these annual celebrations, DeKalb offers many opportunities for recreational activities. The Kishwaukee River runs through town providing picturesque spots for fishing or canoeing. There are also numerous parks scattered throughout the city perfect for picnics or sports activities. Economic Growth: While agriculture still plays a role in DeKalb's economy today, the city has diversified significantly over the years. With industries like healthcare, manufacturing, education and technology taking root within its borders, DeKalb has become a hub of economic activity in northern Illinois. For instance, major companies such as Nestle USA have established facilities here along with smaller businesses catering to niche markets creating jobs for residents while contributing to tax revenue growth. Conclusion: In summary, DeKalb may be small compared to other cities but it is big on character and charm. Its rich history combined with modern developments make this city an ideal place to live or visit. From its humble beginnings as a sawmill settlement to becoming home to one of Illinois' best universities, DeKalb has come a long way. As it continues to grow and evolve, one thing remains constant - the strong sense of community and pride among its residents.

Falcon Bass Boats is a company that has been producing high-quality fishing boats for over 30 years. Founded in 1985 by Forrest Wood, a legendary figure in the fishing industry, Falcon Bass Boats quickly gained recognition as one of the top manufacturers of bass boats in the market. The company's commitment to quality and innovation has allowed it to withstand various challenges throughout its history and maintain its status as a leader in the industry. The Early Years: Forrest Wood had already established himself as an accomplished angler when he decided to venture into boat manufacturing. In partnership with his son-in-law, Earl Bentz, they set out to create a boat that would meet their own standards of excellence on the water. They named their new venture "Falcon" after Wood's successful fishing lure brand. With limited resources but unlimited passion and determination, Wood and Bentz hand-built their first boat in Earle Arkansas – where they still operate today. This initial model was called the Falcon F16, which was designed with input from some of America's most prominent professional anglers at that time. The Success Story: The Falcon F16 received immediate praise from avid fishermen across America for its superior performance on lakes and rivers alike. A testament to its design superiority came when Ken Cook won both BASS Angler-of-the-Year Awards (B.A.S.S & FLW) while piloting this remarkable bass rig. This early success spurred further growth for Falcon Bass Boats within just two years after launching operations; they expanded production capacity by adding more models like the F19SSV, F18CCS & F21XDCS – all with wood-free construction methods using composite materials only! In 1990 Earl Bentz departed from Forest’s team - leaving him sole owner/CEO until his retirement several years ago. Innovations That Revolutionized Fishing Boats: Throughout its history, Falcon Bass Boats has been at the forefront of innovation, consistently introducing groundbreaking features that have revolutionized bass boat design. In 1992 they were one of the first companies to introduce fully molded storage compartments and added a built-in cooler with recessed foot pedal on their F16F model. In 1993 Falcon Bass Boats became an even bigger hit among fishermen when they pioneered the famous “DeltaVee” hull technology. This revolutionary design allowed anglers to reach greater speeds while maintaining excellent stability and smooth handling in rough waters – making it ideal for fishing tournaments. Consistently pushing boundaries, Falcon Bass Boats continued to make improvements such as adding fuel cells integrated into deck designs (F20CCS), relocating batteries and placing them under console seats (2007) - thus freeing up more deck space- all while maintaining its wood-free construction methods! In 2010 another major milestone was achieved when Falcon unveiled the "Extreme Hull" design, which combined cutting-edge engineering principles with advanced materials to create a lighter and faster hull without sacrificing durability or strength. The Legacy Continues: Today, Falcon continues its legacy by producing some of the most sought-after bass boats on the market. The company's current lineup includes models like the F215 & F205 powered by Mercury Marine engines – all equipped with state-of-the-art electronics from Humminbird & Minn Kota trolling motors. Located in the northern region of Illinois, DeKalb is a vibrant city with a rich and diverse history. The area was originally inhabited by Native American tribes such as the Potawatomi, Miami, and Winnebago. In 1835, Joseph F. Glidden purchased land in what is now known as DeKalb County and founded the town of DeKalb. Early Years: DeKalb's early years were marked by rapid growth due to its strategic location along major transportation routes such as the Chicago-Galena stagecoach line and later on, the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. The influx of settlers from New England, primarily farmers seeking fertile land for cultivation, contributed to this growth. By 1850, DeKalb had become an established community with a population of over 1,000 people. Agriculture played a crucial role in shaping DeKalb's economy during these early years. With its fertile soil and favorable climate conditions for farming, the area became known for producing high-quality crops such as corn and wheat. It also saw significant industrial development with industries like carriage making and blacksmithing flourishing. Northern Illinois Normal School: In 1895, Northern Illinois Normal School (now Northern Illinois University) was established in DeKalb with just five faculty members and fewer than two hundred students. This institution brought new opportunities to the city while also contributing significantly to its economic growth. As enrollment at NIU increased over time so did job opportunities in various fields such as education and healthcare which led to further development within the city. Today NIU remains one of the largest employers in DeKalb providing not only jobs but also cultural events that enriches community life. Growth & Development: The turn of the century saw a period of rapid modernization within DeKalb; street lights were installed along Lincoln Highway (now State Street), telephone service became available throughout much of downtown areas by 1904, and the first automobile was introduced to DeKalb in 1905. The arrival of modern transportation led to a significant increase in trade and commerce as well as an influx of new residents. In the early 20th century, DeKalb's downtown area experienced a boom with new businesses opening up along with the construction of several impressive buildings such as the Egyptian Theater (1929) and First National Bank building (1926), which still stand today. During this time, DeKalb also became home to several major industries including barbed wire manufacturer Glidden Company (now known as Barbwire Fencing). DeKalb's growth continued during World War II when it became an important manufacturing center for war-related materials. Companies like Douglas Aircraft Corporation set up shop in DeKalb producing essential military equipment such as aircraft parts. Recent Years: The latter half of the 20th century brought about many changes for DeKalb, both positive and negative. In 1962, Interstate Highways I-88 and I-39 were constructed providing easier access to larger cities nearby. This resulted in a decline of local businesses but opened up opportunities for commuters who could now easily travel between their homes in smaller towns like DeKalb and their jobs in bigger cities. In recent years, efforts have been made to revitalize downtown DeKalb by preserving its historic buildings while also attracting new businesses through programs such as tax incentives. This has led to an increase in tourism with more people visiting landmarks such as Ellwood House Museum, built-in 1879 by barbed wire inventor Isaac Ellwood. Present Day: Today, DeKalb continues to grow economically with diverse industries ranging from education at NIU to healthcare at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital. The city is also home to various cultural events throughout the year including Corn Fest – an annual festival celebrating agriculture that draws thousands of visitors each summer. DeKalb's population has also become more diverse with a growing Hispanic community. In 2019, the city elected its first Latina mayor, Carolyn Morris, signaling a shift towards inclusivity and representation in local government. Conclusion: In conclusion, DeKalb's history is one of resilience and growth. From its humble beginnings as a small farming town to becoming a vibrant city with thriving industries and cultural events, DeKalb has come a long way. Its rich history is evident in its well-preserved landmarks and institutions such as NIU and Ellwood House Museum. As it continues to evolve, DeKalb remains an important part of Illinois' past, present, and future.

DeKalb, Illinois is a small city located in DeKalb County, about 65 miles west of Chicago. It has a rich history that dates back to the early 1800s when it was first settled by European-American pioneers. Before the arrival of settlers, the area where DeKalb now stands was inhabited by Native American tribes such as the Potawatomi and Kickapoo. The land was ceded to the United States government through various treaties in the early 1800s, paving the way for white settlement. The first permanent settler in what is now DeKalb was Rev. Russell Huntley and his family who arrived in 1837 from New York state. They built a log cabin near present-day downtown DeKalb and were soon joined by other families seeking new opportunities on the fertile prairie land. In 1851, surveyors laid out plans for a town site which would become known as "North California," named after an existing township called South California (later renamed Sycamore). However, this name caused confusion with letters being sent to North Carolina instead of North California. As a result, residents decided to change its name to "De Kalb" after Johann de Kalb, a German-born Revolutionary War hero who died at the Battle of Camden. The railroad played a significant role in shaping DeKalb's development. In 1853, construction began on what would become known as Galena and Chicago Union Railroad (now part of Union Pacific), connecting Chicago with Rockford and eventually reaching Iowa. This opened up trade opportunities for farmers in DeKalb County and led to growth in both agriculture and industry. One notable event that took place during this time was Lincoln-Douglas Debate held on October 7th, 1858 between Abraham Lincoln (Republican) and Stephen A Douglas (Democrat). The debate attracted thousands of people from surrounding towns and put DeKalb on the national stage. In the late 19th century, DeKalb saw a surge in manufacturing with the establishment of several factories. The most significant development was the opening of barbed wire factory by Isaac Ellwood and Joseph Glidden in 1873. This invention revolutionized farming and led to DeKalb becoming known as "Barbed Wire Capital of the World." DeKalb continued to grow throughout the 20th century with new industries like automobile production, food processing, and metalworking emerging. Northern Illinois University (NIU) was also founded in 1895 as Northern Illinois State Normal School, which has become one of DeKalb's largest employers. Today, DeKalb is a vibrant community that combines its agricultural roots with modern industry and education. It is home to over 43,000 residents and continues to attract new businesses while preserving its small-town charm. Visitors can explore its rich history at local museums such as The Joiner History Room or enjoy outdoor activities at nearby parks like Hopkins Park or Kishwaukee River State Fish & Wildlife Area. Overall, DeKalb's history showcases how a small settlement on the prairie transformed into a bustling city through innovation, industry, and perseverance. It remains an important part of Illinois' past and present.

Founded in 1988 by Jerry and Kathy Kintzler, Falcon Bass Boats has become synonymous with quality craftsmanship and innovation in the world of bass fishing. He wanted to build a boat that would not only be fast and agile on the water but also durable enough to withstand the rigors of competitive tournament fishing. As we look towards the future, it is clear that Falcon will continue its legacy as one of DeKalb's most successful businesses whose roots are firmly planted within this vibrant community. With each passing year comes new challenges but also opportunities for growth which Jerry Kintzler and Jim LaBella are always ready to meet head-on with the same passion, determination, and craftsmanship that has been the hallmark of Falcon Bass Boats since its humble beginnings.
