Crestliner is a well-known name in the boating industry, known for its high-quality and versatile boats. The company was founded in 1946 by David Slikkers and has since then been a popular choice among boaters across the world. The Beginning: David Slikkers started his career in boatbuilding at an early age of 14 when he worked with his father building wooden boats. He had a passion for designing and building boats that were not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and durable. In 1946, he decided to start his own company called Crestliner. Initially, Crestliner specialized in building aluminum fishing boats using riveted construction techniques. These boats quickly gained popularity due to their durability and affordability compared to other materials such as wood or fiberglass. As the demand for these aluminum fishing boats grew, so did Crestliner's reputation as a reliable brand. Expansion into Fiberglass Boats: In the late 1950s, Crestliner expanded its product line to include fiberglass boats alongside its traditional aluminum models. This expansion allowed them to offer more variety to customers who preferred different types of materials for their boating needs. By this time, Crestliner had established itself as one of the leading manufacturers of recreational fishing boats in North America. Its focus on innovation and quality made it stand out from competitors in the market. Partnership with Brunswick Corporation: In 1963, Brunswick Corporation acquired Crestliner Industries Inc., which proved beneficial for both companies. With Brunswick's financial backing and resources, Crestliner was able to expand its production capacity while maintaining its commitment towards producing high-quality products. Under Brunswick's ownership, Crestliner continued to grow steadily over the years while introducing new technologies such as "UniWeld" hull design which revolutionized boat construction methods by creating stronger welded seams between panels rather than relying on rivets or screws. Introduction of Pontoon Boats: In addition to the traditional aluminum and fiberglass boats, Crestliner also introduced pontoon boats in its product line in the early 1970s. These versatile and spacious boats quickly gained popularity among boaters looking for a comfortable and stable recreational option. The company's commitment to innovation was evident with the introduction of "SureMount" accessory mounting system which allowed boaters to easily customize their pontoons with various accessories such as fishing rod holders, cup holders, and more. Innovation & Awards: Crestliner has always been at the forefront of innovation in the boating industry. In 1996, they introduced "Raptor Hull Design," a revolutionary hull design that increased stability and performance on rough waters. This technology earned them an Innovation Award from IMTEC (International Marine Trades Exhibition & Conference) in Chicago. In addition to this award, Crestliner has received several other accolades over the years for its innovative designs and quality products. It has been recognized as one of America's top boat manufacturers by Consumer Digest multiple times since 2002. Recent Developments: In recent years, Crestliner has continued to expand its product line while maintaining its focus on quality and customer satisfaction. They have introduced new models such as Jon Boats, Bass Boats, Walleye Boats, Ski & Fish Boats, all catering to different types of boaters. One notable development is their partnership with Mercury Marine for powering their boats with reliable outboard engines. This collaboration ensures that customers get a complete package of high-quality boat construction along with powerful performance engines. The city’s name was derived from these early settlers who used cedar logs to build their homes and businesses. Over time, Cedar Rapids grew into a thriving industrial center due to its location on major transportation routes such as railroads and waterways. Today, Cedar Rapids’ economy continues to be driven by manufacturing with companies like Collins Aerospace (formerly Rockwell Collins) and General Mills having significant operations in the area. However, there has been growth in other industries such as healthcare, technology, finance, and education which have helped diversify its economic base. Crestliner is a well-known brand in the boating industry, renowned for its high-quality boats and long history of excellence. The company has been producing premium boats since 1946 and has built a reputation for innovation, durability, and superior craftsmanship. From humble beginnings to becoming one of the leading boat manufacturers in the world, Crestliner's journey is one of perseverance, passion, and unwavering commitment to delivering top-notch products. The origins of Crestliner can be traced back to 1945 when two brothers – Dave and Willis Northrup – started building aluminum boats in Little Falls, Minnesota. The brothers were avid fishermen themselves and recognized the need for lightweight yet sturdy boats that could withstand harsh weather conditions on lakes and rivers. They set out to create their own aluminum fishing boat with exceptional quality at an affordable price point. In 1946, they launched their first model under the name "Mirrocraft," which quickly gained popularity among anglers for its durability and stability on water. However, it wasn't until 1953 that they officially changed their brand name to Crestliner after acquiring another boat manufacturer named Larson Boat Works. Under new ownership but with the same dedication to quality, Crestliner continued to expand its product line by introducing new models such as runabouts (a type of motorboat) in addition to fishing boats. Throughout the 1960s-70s era known as "the Golden Age" of boating, Crestliner thrived by offering diverse options for recreational boaters while still maintaining its focus on creating durable fishing vessels. Innovations have always been at the core of Crestliner's success story. In 1961, they introduced a revolutionary concept called "Uni-Welding," which involved welding all parts together instead of riveting them individually – resulting in stronger hulls with no leaks or weak spots. This technique was also more cost-effective than traditional methods used by other boat manufacturers at the time. Another significant innovation came in the 1970s when Crestliner introduced "modular design" to its boats. This concept allowed customers to customize their boats according to their specific needs and preferences, making it a popular choice among boaters who wanted a personalized experience. In 1991, Crestliner was acquired by Brunswick Corporation – a global leader in marine products – which further strengthened its position in the market. With access to advanced technology and resources, Crestliner continued to innovate and expand its product line while maintaining its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. One of the most notable models launched by Crestliner during this period was the Fish Hawk series in 2006. It featured an innovative hull design that provided exceptional stability even on rough waters, making it ideal for serious anglers. The popularity of this model led Crestliner to introduce other fishing-specific models such as Bass Hawk and Super Hawk over the years. Today, Crestliner offers a wide range of aluminum boats for various purposes – from fishing and water sports to cruising and recreation. Each boat is carefully crafted with attention to detail using cutting-edge technology and premium materials. Additionally, all boats go through rigorous testing before being released into the market, ensuring they meet high-quality standards set by both Brunswick Corporation and Crestliner itself. Crestliner's success can also be attributed significantly to its strong dealer network across North America. These dealers not only provide sales but also offer excellent customer service post-purchase – something that has become synonymous with the brand over the years. The company's dedication towards sustainability is evident through its use of recycled aluminum in boat production since 2015. In addition, they have partnered with organizations like Keep America Fishing® (a program created by American Sportfishing Association)to promote responsible angling practices among boaters. As we look towards the future, one thing is certain: Crestliner will continue pushing boundaries with new innovations, keeping up with the ever-changing demands and preferences of boaters. With over 75 years of manufacturing excellence under its belt, Crestliner's legacy will undoubtedly continue to grow and evolve for generations to come.

Crestliner is a well-known brand in the boating industry, with a rich history dating back to 1946. The company was founded by two brothers, Willis "Bill" and Ray Larson, who grew up on the shores of Little Falls, Minnesota. They had a passion for fishing and spent countless hours exploring the nearby lakes and rivers. In 1945, after World War II ended, Bill Larson purchased an aluminum welding machine with plans to start his own business. He enlisted the help of his brother Ray and together they began experimenting with building small boats using aluminum instead of wood. Their first boat was called the “Little Wheel” which featured an innovative design that allowed it to be launched directly from shore without needing a trailer or ramp. This boat caught the attention of local fishermen and soon orders were pouring in. The following year, in 1946, Bill and Ray officially started Crestliner Boats Inc., named after their hometown's location on Lake Ripley’s crest line. Their initial product line consisted of six models ranging from 12 to 14 feet in length. As demand for their boats increased, so did their production capabilities. In just five years, Crestliner became one of the top producers of welded aluminum boats in North America. They lived along the banks of the Cedar River for thousands of years before European explorers arrived in the area. In 1838, Czech immigrants settled in an area known as Czech Village, which still exists today as a vibrant cultural district. The establishment of this community was just one example of how immigrants from various countries would shape Cedar Rapid's future. The city itself was founded in 1841 by Osgood Shepherd and named after the rapids on the nearby Cedar River. Its location made it an ideal spot for trade and commerce, leading to its rapid growth throughout the mid-19th century. Cedar Rapids' most significant economic boom came with its involvement in agriculture and industry during World War II. Companies such as Quaker Oats and Collins Radio (now Rockwell Collins) established themselves here due to easy access to transportation routes like railroads and highways. However, disaster struck when massive floods hit Cedar Rapids twice between 1851 and 2008 causing devastating damage to homes, businesses, and infrastructure. The aftermaths resulted in major rebuilding efforts that have shaped modern-day Cedar Rapids into what it is today. One notable event that showcased resilience during difficult times was during WWI when local businessman George Greene organized volunteers to sew over seven million surgical dressings for soldiers overseas. This act earned him recognition from President Woodrow Wilson who declared October 29th "George Greene Day." Throughout much of its early history, segregation was prevalent within communities across America; however,CedarRapids became oneofthe fewcitiesin Iowato integrate schools peacefully without any protests or violence in 1867. This was a significant step towards racial equality and demonstrated the progressive nature of Cedar Rapids. The city continued to thrive throughout the 20th century, with growth in industries such as insurance and manufacturing. In fact, Quaker Oats became one of the largest employers in Cedar Rapids, providing thousands of jobs for its residents. In recent years, Cedar Rapids has undergone major revitalization efforts to preserve its history while also modernizing and expanding its downtown area. The New Bo District is a prime example of this with its mix of historic buildings renovated into trendy restaurants, shops, and art galleries. Cedar Rapid's strong ties to agriculture are evident through events like the annual Freedom Festival held every July which celebrates both Independence Day and Iowa's farming heritage. Another notable aspect of Cedar Rapids' history is its vibrant arts scene. The City has always placed an emphasis on supporting local artists through initiatives such as the Public Art Program that commissions murals and sculptures around town. It is also home to several museums including the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library which showcases the city's Czech roots. Cedar Rapids, Iowa is a city located in eastern Iowa along the banks of the Cedar River. It was first inhabited by Native American tribes, including the Sac and Fox tribes who used the river for transportation and trade. The Meskwaki (Fox) people were eventually forced to move westward after a series of conflicts with European settlers. The first European settler in what is now Cedar Rapids was Osgood Shepherd, who arrived in 1838 from Indiana. He built a cabin near the present-day intersection of First Avenue and First Street SE. In 1841, another early settler named George Greene established a trading post at this location which became known as "Greene's Grove." In 1848, Linn County was officially organized and Greene's Grove was chosen as its county seat due to its central location within the county. The town was renamed "Cedar Rapids" after the nearby rapids on the Cedar River. The arrival of railroads in the mid-19th century spurred growth and development in Cedar Rapids. The Chicago & North Western Railway came through town in 1859 followed by other lines such as Milwaukee Road, Rock Island Line, Burlington Route, Illinois Central Railroad and Great Western Railway. During this time period, many industries also began to establish themselves in Cedar Rapids thanks to its prime location along transportation routes. These included meatpacking plants, flour mills, lumber companies, foundries and more. One major event that shaped Cedar Rapids' history occurred on May 30th-31st of 1882 when severe flooding caused extensive damage throughout downtown area resulting loss of lives among residents living near or adjacent to river banks. The flood waters reached up to six feet deep in some areas causing significant destruction to homes and businesses. Despite this setback, the city continued to grow rapidly into an industrial hub with new factories being built regularly. In fact,Cedar Rapidians proudly boasted about their city being known as the "City of Five Seasons",with the fifth season being known as "time to enjoy life". In 1914, artist Grant Wood moved to Cedar Rapids and would go on to become one of the most well-known artists in American history. He was heavily influenced by his surroundings, particularly the landscapes and architecture of Cedar Rapids. His famous painting, “American Gothic,” was inspired by a house he saw while driving through town. The Great Depression brought economic hardships to Cedar Rapids like many other cities in America during this time period. However, with federal aid through programs such as Works Progress Administration (WPA), several public buildings were constructed including City Hall and Veterans Memorial Building. During World War II,Cedar Rapidians played a significant role in supporting war efforts. In fact, various companies from manufacturing sector contributed significantly towards making planes, tanks, bombs, guns and more for allied forces. With large number of men away at war, women also took up jobs traditionally held by men, resulting in greater gender equality within workforce. This era marked a turning point for city's economy which continued its growth post-war years. In recent decades,Cedar Rapids has faced challenges such as natural disasters including severe flooding in 2008 that caused widespread damage throughout the city. However, the community has shown resilience and determination to rebuild, reinvent, and revitalize itself. Additionally, outdoor activities are popular among residents due to its proximity to parks, nature trails, and recreational areas along the riverfront. Overall,Cedar Rapids' rich history is deeply intertwined with its present-day identity,a resilient and thriving city that embraces its past while looking towards the future.

Crestliner is a prominent boat manufacturer with a rich history in the city of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The company has been an integral part of the community for over 70 years and has left an indelible mark on the local economy and culture. The origin of Crestliner dates back to 1946 when two brothers, Dave and Willis Thielen, established a small aluminum fabrication shop in Little Falls, Minnesota. They named their venture "Aluminum Boat Company" and started producing high-quality aluminum fishing boats. Their business quickly grew as they gained recognition for their durable and innovative designs. In the early 1950s, Aluminum Boat Company expanded its operations to include fiberglass production under the name "Fiberglass Products." This expansion allowed them to offer a wider range of products including runabouts, cruisers, and sailboats. However, it was not until 1954 that they officially changed their name to Crestliner after one of their most successful models – the Crestline. Cedar Rapids entered into Crestliner's story in 1962 when parent company Outboard Marine Corporation (OMC) acquired Fiberglass Products. OMC saw potential in expanding Fiberglass Product's production capacity by utilizing Cedar Rapids' skilled workforce and strategic location along major waterways such as the Mississippi River. Under OMC ownership, Crestliner experienced significant growth and success throughout the following decades. In addition to boats being produced at its original factory in Little Falls, new facilities were also opened in both Owatonna and Grand Rapids Michigan during this time period. One key factor that set Crestliner apart from other boat manufacturers was its dedication to innovation. The company consistently invested resources into research and development initiatives aimed at improving performance while maintaining durability standards. This commitment paid off with numerous industry awards recognizing Crestliner’s advancements in design technology. Another aspect that contributed significantly to Crestliner's success was its ability to adapt quickly to changing market demands while still maintaining the brand's core values. In the 1970s, Crestliner recognized a growing trend towards fiberglass boats and subsequently shifted its focus from aluminum to fiberglass production. This transition proved successful as they were able to maintain their reputation for producing high-quality boats while also meeting market demands. In 1983, OMC sold Crestliner and several other boat brands to Genmar Holdings, Inc., a company founded by Irwin Jacobs. Under new ownership, Crestliner continued to flourish with expanded product lines and increased sales numbers. Unfortunately, in 2001 Genmar Holdings filed for bankruptcy due to financial troubles caused by economic downturns and overextended debt. However, this did not mark the end of Crestliner's story in Cedar Rapids. In 2002 Brunswick Corporation acquired both OMC’s assets (including Crestliner) from Genmar as part of a structured sale process. Through strategic restructuring efforts undertaken by Brunswick Corporation management team led by Dustan McCoy at that time, Crestliner was able to regain its position as one of the leading boat manufacturers in Iowa. Today, under parent company Brunswick Corporation's ownership along with brands such as Mercury Marine engines and Sea Ray Boats division; it is no surprise that many people view Cedar Rapids today as more than just an industrial town – but rather a hub for boating enthusiasts throughout the state who value quality craftsmanship and performance on waterways nearby or far away destinations! Over the years, countless individuals have contributed to making Crestliner what it is today – including skilled engineers who design innovative boats using cutting-edge technology; hard-working factory employees who bring those designs into reality; dedicated dealerships across North America providing exceptional customer service; loyal customers who continue to choose Crestliners generation after generation; passionate ambassadors sharing their love for boating through social media platforms--all working together day-to-day resulting in delivering high-performing products bringing joyous moments spent on watercraft year-round! In conclusion, Crestliner's history in Cedar Rapids is a testament to the company's resilience and adaptability. From its humble beginnings as Aluminum Boat Company in Minnesota to being a part of Brunswick Corporation, Crestliner has remained true to its core values of innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction. With over 70 years of experience and success behind them, it is safe to say that Crestliner will continue to be an integral part of Cedar Rapids for many years to come.

Crestliner is a well-known brand in the boating industry, with a rich history dating back to 1946. The company was founded by two passionate fishermen, Richard A. "Dick" Frost and Willis J. "Cy" Cybyske, who shared a vision of creating high-quality aluminum boats that could withstand the harsh conditions of northern Minnesota's lakes and rivers. From its humble beginnings as a small operation in Little Falls, Minnesota, Crestliner has grown into one of the most respected boat manufacturers in North America. Over the years, the company has expanded its product line to include a wide range of fishing boats, pontoons, and recreational vessels. One of Crestliner's key strengths is its commitment to innovation and continuous improvement. From day one, Dick Frost and Cy Cybyske were determined to build boats that would exceed their customers' expectations. They constantly experimented with new designs and materials to create stronger and more durable boats. In 1950, Crestliner introduced an all-welded aluminum hull – an innovation that revolutionized the boating industry at the time. This design not only made their boats lighter but also significantly increased their strength and durability compared to traditional riveted models. The early success of this groundbreaking technology led Crestliner to focus on perfecting welded construction techniques for all its models over time. Today, every Crestliner boat is built using state-of-the-art welding processes such as heliarc welding (TIG) or gas metal arc welding (MIG), ensuring superior structural integrity for optimal performance on water. Another area where Crestliner stands out is its dedication to customer satisfaction through customization options. Each boat can be personalized according to individual preferences – from color schemes down to specific features like trolling motors or rod holders – making it truly unique for each owner. Additionally, many models come with various package options designed specifically for different types of fishing (e.g., walleye, bass, or multispecies). These packages include specialized features and equipment to enhance the fishing experience for anglers. Crestliner's commitment to quality is also evident in its use of premium materials. The company works with top suppliers to source marine-grade aluminum alloy and other components that meet stringent industry standards. This attention to detail ensures that every boat can withstand the rigors of frequent use in any water condition. Furthermore, Crestliner boats are designed with user convenience in mind. For instance, many models feature an adjustable seating system called the SureMount Gunnel Accessory System. This system allows owners to easily move seats and accessories around their boat without drilling additional holes – a significant advantage for those who enjoy customizing their setup for different fishing trips. Apart from functionality, Crestliner boats also offer a comfortable and enjoyable on-water experience through well-thought-out amenities such as plush seating options, ample storage capacity, and advanced electronics systems. These features not only make boating more relaxing but also allow anglers to focus on catching fish rather than worrying about comfort or equipment failures. In recent years, Crestliner has made strides towards sustainability by implementing environmentally-friendly practices throughout its manufacturing process. For example, the company uses recycled aluminum scrap material when constructing new boats – reducing waste while maintaining high-quality standards. Moreover, all Crestliner models come equipped with fuel-efficient engines that adhere to strict emission regulations set by government agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB). By continuously working on improving fuel efficiency and emissions control mechanisms on their products, Crestliner demonstrates its commitment to minimizing environmental impact. In conclusion, there is no denying that Crestliner has established itself as one of the premier boat manufacturers in North America through continuous innovation and dedication to quality. With a diverse range of customizable models built using state-of-the-art technology and sustainable practices – it's clear why this brand remains a favorite among avid fishermen and recreational boaters alike. Whether it's for fishing, cruising, or leisure activities, Crestliner has a boat to suit every need and budget. And with its unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction and environmental responsibility, the future looks bright for this iconic brand in the world of boating.
